Karen Stupples in Trigelle

Okay, we admit it. Sometimes when we’re standing over that putt, we dream of being a professional golfer.

But we know we’re kidding ourselves. It’s the rare woman who really has what it takes.

Karen Stupples is one of those women. Today, she’s a career mom who has crossed the $3 million mark in cumulative tournament winnings. Quite a journey from the early 90s when she fell back on waitressing because she didn’t have the money for Q-School!

This plaid short and black top with matching plaid detailing are among Karen Stupples' "must-have" Trigelle pieces. And if you add a pair of black Trigelle shorts, you get a second look with the same top.

But what we wanted to know about, of course, is why she wears Trigelle. Sure, Trigelle designer Lulu Faddis has an uncanny knack for chic! But is there anything more to the story?

Turns out there is. Trigelle is more than just great golf fashion, it’s a company with a heart.

But don’t take our word for it. Read on . . .

WomenGolfApparel.com: So why do you wear Trigelle?

Karen Stupples: Trigelle is a great match for me as a player. The clothes are both “golf functional” and “real-world functional.” It looks good — and you don’t sacrifice any performance on the course.

Not only that but they have a full line of clothes, so no matter what the  weather is I have an outfit it.

WGA: Is your fashion sense influenced at all by your being British, and a member of the Ladies European Tour as well as the LPGA? If so, how?

KS: It’s funny to think that I have fashion sense.

I think in the U.K. I try to keep it simple. I am not really “out there” — and that is very British.

I also feel that both the LPGA and LET are on a very even level with regard style. Both tours have a bit of everything to keep the fashion-conscious happy.

WGA: Do you have any favorite Trigelle pieces this season?

KS: It’s really hard to pin down a favorite piece. But if I had to, I would say the pants. I love the pockets and they fit really well.

WGA: Are there any Trigelle pieces you’d consider foundational or essential pieces, that you would recommend to our readers?

Karen was drawn to Trigelle because it is both functional and looks good. "Lulu got it right from the begining and as every line of clothes comes out her designs just get better," she says.

Karen was drawn to Trigelle because it looks great but is also functional -- so she doesn't need to sacrifice performance. "Lulu got it right from the beginning — and as every line of clothes comes out her designs just get better,” Karen says.

KS: My suggestion would be the plaid shorts and the black shirt with plaid detail. This combo looks too good not to have.

WGA: Tell us about Trigelle as a company. How are they to work with?

KS: As a company, Trigelle have been fantastic to work with. They are so willing to help with anything I need.

For example, when I got pregnant they provided larger clothes — that, by the way, worked well because of the fabric they used. And they stuck by me after the birth when some of my other sponsors decided not too.

It shows that not only do they produce wonderful clothes they are good people, who care.

WGA: Wow, good for them!

Besides great design, another of Trigelle’s hallmarks is the use of eco-fabrics. What is your experience with these fabrics? For example, do you find you need to sacrifice other qualities (such as durability) in order to wear eco-friendly, or is the opposite the case? How important is it to you to wear these fabrics?

KS: Eco-friendly products are the way forward. I have not noticed any difference in the performance — in fact I find them more comfortable, plus you feel good every time you wear them knowing that you hurt the environment a little less.

WGA: Thank you Karen. And best of luck to you in your future tournaments!
